Caples Lake
Details
Description: Caples Lake Trail is moderately trafficked, mostly flat trail located near Kirkwood that features a lake and is rated as moderate. There are several locations for the dogs to get access to the water. We will hike to about the end of the lake, have some lunch, and return. We will likely stay on leash for the first part of the hike where it is narrow, then let them off where the trail widens out. We hike at a leisurely pace and take time for the dogs to play, take pictures and enjoy the scenery.
It will be chilly at 9:30am start, around 40 deg so be prepared for cold. It will warm up as we hike, high is 59.
Directions from Sacramento: Travel east on Highway 50, Follow US-50 E to Sly Park Rd in Pollock Pines. Take exit 60 from US-50 E. Take Mormon Emigrant Trail to CA-88 E for 30 miles. Parking is on the right just after you pass Kirkwood at the beginning of the lake.
