Welcome to the most talked about trail, that doesn't exist. Yep, it's the Cave Trail. Several sections are bare rock, which makes it difficult to follow. This trail has gained considerable popularity over the years.

If you've hiked the Peralta Trail, you've seen the caves on the yellow ridgeline to the east. We will ascend the trail to the Fremont Saddle, along the way hopefully finding the elusive Geronimo cave. After admiring the views of the iconic Weaver's Needle from the Lone Tree overlook and a brief lunch break, we will continue westward, across Peralta Trail to visit an old bandits' hideout, the secretive Robbers' Roost, one of the top adventures in the Superstition Mountains.

A must-do for every serious Arizona hiker.

From there we will turn east on a faint, unmarked trail, until we drop down to Superstition Ridgeline. for a snack, and some memorable photo opportunities.

After the hike, with memories of our awesome adventure with good friends, before we hit the road back to Phoenix, we will R&R picnic-style, so bring your lawn chairs, snacks and beverages.

Take US-60 EAST, PAST the Gold Canyon to:

• PERALTA ROAD - just past milepost 204
  - turn LEFT onto Peralta Road
  - GO 5.5 miles from the US 60 TO:
  - LOST GOLDMINE EAST TRAILHEAD PARKING sign where you
  - TURN LEFT into the large parking lot.
