All day - kayak, swim and PICNIC: Knoll Lake – Payson
Let's spend a day away from the valley heat and head to the comfortable air at 7300 feet ASL, surrounded by Ponderosa pines on the majestic Mogollon Rim.
Bring your kayak, paddle-board, picnic chairs and supplies for a day at this gem in the high country.
With a picturesque island in its middle, Knoll Lake provides scenic atmosphere in which to enjoy your picnic, kayak, swim and good company. Fishing is good here too, offering rainbow trout stocked by the Arizona Game & Fish Department.
We'll start early to catch a good picnic spot at the lake.
There will be NO CARPOOL for this adventure. The drive is about 3 hours from Phoenix, and I expect to get there by 8:30.
Look for a garland of American flags and a bunch of people waiting to welcome you to a happy group of picnickers, just a wee bit west of the LAUNCH RAMP adjacent to the parking lot.
