About us
Hiking and Activities Club California (HAACCA) is a vibrant community of members who share a love for nature, movement, and meaningful connection. Led by Maxx, our hikes typically span 6–12 miles and often end with a relaxed picnic to unwind and connect further. Occasionally longer hikes!
More than just a hiking group, HAACCA opens doorways — perhaps most importantly — real friendships in a region where that's not always easy. Our hikes encourage members to unplug from tech, be present, and engage in genuine conversation while exploring some of the most beautiful trails California has to offer.
Hiking shouldn’t be gatekept. This community has given so much to me that I stepped up to lead and continue growing its positive impact. Whether you're new to hiking or a seasoned trekker, HAACCA welcomes you.
let’s hit the trail — I can’t wait to meet you!

Arroyo Seco - Hike, wade, swim and scramble in the Arroyo Seco canyon
Arroyo Seco Camprground Trailhead, Arroyo Seco Rd, Greenfield, CA, USThis is a fun event!
DETAILS
This is a ~5 mile loop through the Arroyo Seco canyon. The river will be flowing so you will need to swim, wade and scramble over rocks to complete the hike. You must assume that everything you carry will get wet unless it's in a dry bag.
The first 2.5 miles we will hike on a dirt road with a gradual climb up to the trailhead near the downed bridge. From there we will descend into the creek and head back to the trailhead. This will require swimming short distances, wading and scrambling over rocks.
Note that we will be in the water quite a bit. There is no option for turning around once you pass the half mile point in the creek.
If we're lucky, we will see the resident otter.IMPORTANT
- Please make sure are comfortable in water and able to swim 100+ yards or so at a time.
- You will need water shoes.
- It is recommended that you bring a dry bag for your personal stuff and a long sleeve (rash guard) shirt for the water to protect you from the sun. And of course water and a hat!
- There is a mandatory pre-trip call to coordinate carpooling etc. on April 13th @ 7 PM. Send me your email so I can add you to the call. If you do not attend the call, you will be removed from the trip
- Check your driving times before you RSVP.
- Keep track of the weather. The area can be 10 - 20 degrees warmer than the Bay Area.
