What we’re about
Hiking and Activities Club California (HAACCA) is a vibrant community of over 4,000 members who share a love for nature, movement, and meaningful connection. Led by Maxx Rodriguex, our hikes typically span 6–10 miles and often end with a relaxed picnic to unwind and connect further. Occasionally longer hikes!
More than just a hiking group, HAACCA opens doorways — perhaps most importantly — real friendships in a region where that's not always easy. Our hikes encourage members to unplug from tech, be present, and engage in genuine conversation while exploring some of the most beautiful trails California has to offer.
Hiking shouldn’t be gatekept. This community has given so much to me that I stepped up to lead and continue growing its positive impact. Whether you're new to hiking or a seasoned trekker, HAACCA welcomes you.

This trail near Sausalito offers incredible views and a good challenge, with a mix of terrain that's great for hiking, running, and birding. It's generally busy, but still offers peaceful moments during off-peak hours. The route is open year-round and ideal for those who love coastal scenery and a solid workout.

Castle Rock, Saratoga Gap and Ridge Trail is an awe inducing trek with views of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Located in Castle Rock State Park, just off highway 35, this route has it all! It provides amazing views of Rock Falls, crosses the San Lorenzo River, passes by the notorious climbing spot at Goat Rock and is conveniently located close to San Jose.
