Bring your kayak - Mariner Point and explore gunpowder falls river

Details

Let's explore the little and big gunpowder falls rivers. These are some of my favorite places outdoors in our area. So much animal life including bald eagles, herons, cormorants, ducks, ospreys, turtles, snapping turtles, beavers.

I hope to have everyone in the water and starting to paddle by 4PM.

We will do about 5 miles.

Please bring a water shoes, water, and a good attitude!

Bring your own kayak gear come with us and enjoy the fresh air and water.

The event is set up to put everyone into a waitlist until you confirm you have your own kayak equipment. So please sign up to the waitlist and shoot a message to me or comment in the event to explicitly confirm you have your gear and I will move you manually to the confirmed list.

I have one kayak I could loan. Reach out if you want to borrow it.

Group size will be limited to about ten people total.

Everyone will need to have their own kayak, paddle, PFD and know how to use it. We will be kayaking in mostly protected areas. But there will be some sections in open spaces that can experience waves. Sun screen and water shoes will be essential. Please no inflatable kayaks.

We will paddle for approximately 2-3 hours of steady kayaking at about 3mph.

After paddling we may go to a local restaurant. There are also a few restaurants with outside seating we might try. Group decides.

Covid and general disclaimers....
A quick reminder that this is my hobby, I am doing this for fun and to socialize, get exercise, be in nature and meet cool new people. Please set your expectations and if you are expecting no risk and professionally run events, this may not be a good fit for you. I want to have fun and share my passion for the outdoors and I want you all to enjoy yourselves too. No bad attitudes please. :)
As with all our events please remember that you are responsible for your own safety. There are the typical risks for any outdoor event plus we are in a pandemic. I cannot eliminate all risk for those who attend this event and you must take responsibility for yourself but I will do my best to use common sense best practices to try and minimize our risks.
If you have recent symptoms of covid or any other respiratory illness or been in close proximity to those who have please do NOT come to this event.
