About the hikes:
- The Subway Cave is considered one of Sedona’s most beautiful “secret” spots. The views on this trail are amazing and it’s something where you’ll want to stop many times to take picture and enjoy the scenery!
- Kachina Tree Cave is a teardrop shaped cave located in Boynton Canyon. Through the cave you’ll find a lone tree with green leaves standing tall. This lone tree illuminates under sunlight around mid-morning when sun beams burst into the narrow cave chamber.
Kachina Tree Cave is the best kept secret of all the hidden caves in Sedona because almost everyone hikes straight to the Subway Cave and misses this second stop along Boynton Canyon - Crescent Moon Picnic Site: One of the most photographed scenes in the southwest is towering Cathedral Rock reflected in the waters of Oak Creek at Red Rock Crossing.
- Chapel of the Holy Cross: The Chapel was commissioned by local rancher and sculptor Marguerite Brunswig Staude, who had been inspired in 1932 by the newly constructed Empire State Building to build such a church.
After an attempt to do so in Budapest, Hungary (with the help of Lloyd Wright, son of architect Frank Lloyd Wright) was aborted due to the outbreak of World War II, she decided to build the church in her native region.
