Please join us for a hike at beautiful Shady Canyon in Irvine. This is an easier Intermediate level hike. This hike is a bit too long for most beginners.
This walk is for humans. Please leave your canine friends at home.

## Meet and Greet at Turtle Rock Community Park parking lot at 8:50 AM.
## Hike Briefing/Stretching at 8:55 AM.
## The hike departs promptly at 9:00 AM.
## If you arrive late or otherwise choose to do this walk on your own, just follow the directions detailed below.
Difficulty: If you can walk at least 5 miles in under 2 hours, you should be able to do this hike.
Pace: Moderate - About 22 - 24 minutes/mile
Distance: About 5 miles.
Elevation Gain: About 300 feet

Description: We meet at the Turtle Rock Community Park parking lot and access the Shady Canyon trail across the street. The Shady Canyon trail is mostly flat paved multi-use trail alongside a dirt trail. This is an out and back hike to the Quail Hill trailhead and back.
Sometimes we may see some wildlife: quail, hawks, roadrunners, bunny wabbits, and if we are very lucky, maybe a snake or a tarantula.
Parking: There is free parking at the Turtle Rock Community Park. GPS Address: 1 Sunnyhill, Irvine, CA.
Facilities: There are restrooms at the start/end of the hike as well as the mid-hike turnaround point.
What to bring: Water, maybe a snack or lunch, sunglasses, sturdy hiking shoes, maybe hiking poles if you have them, a hat or umbrella, a happy attitude and a big smile!
