5 mile Full Moon Mid-Autumn Festival hike with Mooncake

Details

OK, so we're 1 early for the actual full moon, but still we can still celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival by taking an evening hike in Shady Canyon - and eating some Mooncake.

Take the 405 to Sand Canyon, head south and meet at the Starbucks near the corner of Sand Canyon and Quail Hill Parkway.

We'll walk south down Shady Canyon, where there's a paved bike path and a dirt path separated from the roadway. Our halfway point is the Turtle Rock Community Center (1 Sunnyhill, Irvine), where we will take a break and eat Mooncake before returning.

The hike is a little over 5 miles with about 500 feet of elevation gain (but we'll need it to burn off that Mooncake).

Bring a small flashlight if you have one.
