Tours begin promptly on the hour at the information desk on the ground floor of the Rotunda. Please allow sufficient time to arrive and be ready to start. If you arrive late, you may be asked to join the tour in progress or your tour may be shortened. Groups may be combined. The tour will last approximately 45 to 55 minutes. Groups may see the Rotunda, the Supreme Court, the Assembly, the Senate and the North Hearing Room (all subject to availability). The observation deck is open daily by May 1 through December 31.
Bus parking is not available around the Capitol Concourse. Buses may discharge passengers from the right-hand bus lane of the Capitol Square, seek parking nearby (see attached map), and return to pick up passengers at the end of the tour. Passengers should not be discharged in the traffic lane or in the Capitol driveways (drivers who do so may be ticketed). Wheelchair access is available at the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Wisconsin, East Washington and West Washington Avenue entrances.
Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time to allow for using bathrooms if needed and locking up any items in the Tour Orientation Room. Within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time, we may call you to determine your ETA.
Chaperones are responsible for the proper supervision of groups while visiting the Capitol. We suggest one adult for every ten children. Cameras with flash and video recorders are allowed in all areas of the Capitol except in the legislative galleries during floor sessions. A limited number of closets are available in the Tour Orientation Center. The Capitol has seating for 140 people in the rotunda basement available weekdays on a first-come, first served basis. Please let us know if you plan to use the lunchroom during your visit, which has vending machines available.

A 13-minute Capitol DVD ($10), Capitol Guidebooks ($3), Capitol Restoration Books ($3), Activity Books ($1.50),postcards (25¢), 4-fold postcard (75¢), and lenticular postcard (50¢), are available at the information desk or via mail order. Prices are subject to change. To save time chaperones may wish to collect money for souvenirs from students before the trip. You can email the item and cost totals to us and we can box them in advance and have them ready for pick-up and payment.
