About us
This group is to organise hiking daytrips from Geneva with a historical theme. I'm basing these on suggestions found in a local historical publication called Passé Simple. The hikes are meant to be reachable via public transport (Geneva train station) and of easy to medium difficulty (2 to 5 hours).
I'm not a professional guide, just an enthusiast :)

Aubonne Arboretum

Lets meet Saturday 17th of October for a hike through the Arboretum of Aubonne!
This hike is about enjoying the autumn colors. Starting from the village of Gimel, we’ll go through the countryside to the forest and river Aubonne and its valley. This area is 200 hectares of nature, with a visitor centre that includes a small Museum of Forestry, a space for art exhibitions and café. You can see more on https://www.arboretum.ch
We then proceed to Aubonne itslef, going by the old village and castle, with views over vineyards and the lake.
Let’s meet at the village of Gimel, at the bus stop Gimel, place de l’Union at 10. I’ll be on the Geneva train leaving at 09:08, changing at Rolle at 09:34 and then taking the 09:39 bus B840 arriving at 09:58. The hike should be three hours and a half, with breaks and the visitor centre we should be at the Aubonne train station by 3 or 3:30pm. Yes you can go to Ikea afterwards, as I know from experience some of you are wondering.
