What we’re about
This group is to organise hiking daytrips from Geneva with a historical theme. I'm basing these on suggestions found in a local historical publication called Passé Simple. The hikes are meant to be reachable via public transport (Geneva train station) and of easy to medium difficulty (2 to 5 hours).
I'm not a professional guide, just an enthusiast :)

See all- Sion and Musée du ValaisNeeds location
Hello!
Let’s meet this Sunday for a hike around Sion, the Bisse de Lentine and the Musee du Valais.
We’ll meet at Sion train station at 10:30. I’ll be on the Geneva train leaving at 08;24 and arriving at 10:19, If you’d like to join then. The hike takes us through Sion, then a climb alongside the Bisse de Lentine and the Sionne river North of the city, and back down with a view over the Rhone valley. Sion has two large hills, one with a castle and the other with a basilica. We’ll visit the latter where the Musee d’Histoire du Valais is situated.
You can find out more on: https://musee-histoire-valais.ch/
The hike should be around 4 hours, including breaks. With the visit of the basilica and looking at the old town (which you can of course skip if you need to get back sooner), we should be finished between 4 and 5pm. There’s a train back every half hour or so.
As usual please come prepared for changes in weather and with water, snacks, etc. I am not a professional guide and decline responsibility for any incident.
A detailed map and stats on the intended hike can be found here:
