What we’re about
This group is to organise hiking daytrips from Geneva with a historical theme. I'm basing these on suggestions found in a local historical publication called Passé Simple. The hikes are meant to be reachable via public transport (Geneva train station) and of easy to medium difficulty (2 to 5 hours).
I'm not a professional guide, just an enthusiast :)

See all- Buttes and Medieval FairNeeds location
Hello!
Let’s meet this Saturday for a hike in the Val de Travers and see the Medieval Salt Festival in Buttes! This small village hosts every year a Medieval themed fair, with in-dress renanctments, activities, and market. You can see more about this on https://www.fetedusel.chThe hike starts in Motiers, along the banks of the small Areuse river, and round a hill to the village of St-Sulpice. From there we walk up said hill, named Chapeau de Napoleon for its distinctive shape, from where we should have a great view of the valley. Then down to Buttes and the festival.
Let’s meet in Motiers at 10:20. I’ll be on the train leaving from Geneva at 8:05. I know the hike might start a little early, but that’s to have some time to see the fair. With about 3 and a half hour’s walk and 1 hour for breaks, we should get there by 3pm.
As usual please come prepared for changes in weather and with water, snacks, etc, and make sure you are equipped for summer conditions (hat, sunscreen). I am not a professional guide and decline responsibility for any incident.
