About us
This group is to organise hiking daytrips from Geneva with a historical theme. I'm basing these on suggestions found in a local historical publication called Passé Simple. The hikes are meant to be reachable via public transport (Geneva train station) and of easy to medium difficulty (2 to 5 hours).
I'm not a professional guide, just an enthusiast :)

Hike from Tavannes to Reconvilier Fair
Location not specified yetHello,
Lets meet Sunday 6th of September for a hike in the canton of Bern and the Reconvilier fair!
We start in Tavannes and up towards the Werdtberg hill, where there is an observation plateform. It’s a bit of a climb but a reasonable effort (check the Komoot link for details). Then down towards the village of Reconvilier, that is hosting one of the most important fairs in Switzerland. Apparently this is the biggest agricultural fair in Europe, and on the official list of Swiss traditional events. They're expecting some 50 000 visitors and 550 exhibitors over two days.
You can find out more about this on: https://www.reconvilier.ch/accueil-foire-de-chaindon/
And its History on : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foire_de_Chaindon
Let’s meet at Tavannes at 11:45. I’ll be on the Geneva train leaving at 09:24 if you want to join then. With breaks, the hike should be around three and a half hours. Then we’ll improvise how long each wants to stay the fair.
As usual please come prepared for changes in weather anyway and with water, snacks, etc. Please use the chat function on the event page for on-the-day updates and if you need to get in touch.
