A conservative Scottish courtesan (Lucy Russell) witnesses the French Revolution through her relationship with the pro-revolutionary Duke of Orleans (Jean-Claude Dreyfus).
Writer-director Eric Rohmer, known for his "tasty talk" movies, turns to history with this 2001 production based on Grace Elliott's Journal of My Life During the Revolution, published posthumously in 1859.
