Two 1973 families in a Connecticut suburb deal with dysfunction, turning to alcohol and sexual experimentation.

This 1997 production was the first American movie directed by Ang Lee, from a James Schamus script based on Rick Moody's 1994 novel. It's acted by a formidable ensemble, including Kevin Kline, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Allen, Tobey Maguire, Christina Ricci and Elijah Wood.
