Sisters Anne and Mary Boleyn (Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson) are rivals for the affection of King Henry VIII (Eric Bana).

Justin Chadwick directed this 2008 period piece from a Peter Morgan screenplay based on Philippa Gregory's novel. (A 2003 BBC adaptation starred Natasha McElhone, Jodhi May and Jared Harris.) It takes some factual liberties, making Anne older than Mary though she was probably younger, and ignoring Mary's earlier affair with the French king Francois I. The supporting cast includes Kristin Scott-Thomas, Benedict Cumberbatch and Mark Rylance.
