Buffalo Bill Cody (Paul Newman) stages a Wild West show.
Robert Altman directed this revisionist 1976 western (released in the bicentennial year of U.S. independence) from an Alan Rudolph script based on Arthur Kopit's 1968 play Indians. In the style of many Altman productions, it's an episodic myth-skewering ensemble piece The cast includes Burt Lancaster as "The Legend Maker" Ned Buntline, Geraldine Chaplin as "The Sure Shot" Annie Oakley, and Joel Grey as "The Producer" Nate Salsbury.
