In 1963 Mississippi, during the Civil Rights crusade, a white journalist (Emma Stone) decides to write a book based on the perspective of two black maids (Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer).
This 2011 release was written and directed by Tate Taylor, adapting Kathryn Stockett's 2009 novel. The supporting cast includes Jessica Chastain, Sissy Spacek, Bryce Dallas Howard and Cicely Tyson. Octavia Spencer won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
