Our regular season has ended. This trip is open for those who regularly helped us fulfill our mission and ran our public program by volunteering during our public kayak days in 2025.
If you did not have a chance to volunteer this year, we will begin to train new volunteers in May 2026.

Intermediate Trip - Surf City - 7 miles round trip
We'll paddle about 3.5 miles each way. Please bring ID (required for entering surf city) and credit card or cash to purchase food. Water is still cold so drysuit or 3+mm wetsuit required.
This trip might be canceled if it gets too windy.

PREREQUISITES TO RSVP:
1. volunteered AT LEAST 4 shifts in 2025 during our public kayaking days OR You volunteered with us in the past and promise to help us for at least 2 embayment shifts in 2026
AND
2. completed 2 trainings with our boathouse in 2025 or 2026
AND
3. Competed 1 novice trip in 2025 or 2026 which you felt were easy for you
AND
4. Completed our 1 mile, 7-turn time trial in less than 19 min
AND
5. show full control of your craft, can launch and land independently and completed kayak/sup level 2
6. Completed a wetexit with us in 2025 or 2026

Craft:
* Sit on top - nope
* Sea Kayak - only if completed 5+ mile round trip in 2025
* SUP - only if completed 5+ mile round trip in 2025
* Surfski - only if completed 5+ mile round trip in 2025
* Have Ke Aloha Coach contact host to make sure you are qualified to use small boats and a Ke Aloha supporting member

COME PREPARED:

  • Drysuit (we have some for use) or 3+mm wetsuit required
  • Water shoes
  • Hat
  • Change of WARM clothes
  • ID (required for entering surf city)
  • Food or card/cash to purchase food
  • Water in a reusable bottle
  • All around waterproof white light
  • Anything else you need for 1.5+ hours on the water

TIMELINE:
2:45 PM Arrive at the boathouse
3:00 PM safety briefing HARD CUT OFF TO ARRIVE. Whoever does not make it by this time will not be able to join
3:30 PM Move boats to the beach
3:45 PM Depart from HCCB
4:45 PM Arrive at Surf City
5:00 PM land and stash boats
90 Mins to eat and relax
6:30 PM Meet at boats, prepare gear, safety briefing
6:45 PM Depart from Surf City
7:45 PM Arrive at HCCB
8:00 PM Finish cleaning and putting away equipment
8:45 PM Trip ends
