homecooked stories by Trang is a Vietnamese homecooking supper hosted every last Sunday lunch of the month in Pankow, Berlin - following the traditional Northern Vietnamese family meal tradition: một mặn · một canh · một rau
(one savory · one soup · one vegetable)
This is my way of showing love, staying close to my family memories, expressing the personal stories I don’t always know how to put into words, and extending the “home feeling” I crave to others in Berlin.
I was born into a Northern Vietnamese family that immigrated South, with relatives and friends from all parts of the country. My homecooking reflects all of these lived experiences.
People often ask me where the most authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Berlin is. Is there such a thing? I never know how to answer, because I grew up seeing how food changes with the people, the places, and the circumstances around it.

🌞 Summer on a Pankow Terrace: All-You-Can-Eat Bánh Xèo

In Vietnam, Bánh Xèo isn’t something I would order as a carefully plated dish in a restaurant.
It’s what happens when friends gather around a street vendor late at night.
Someone orders a stack of crispy pancakes for the table. Everyone wraps pieces in lettuce and herbs, dips them into fish sauce, and keeps ordering more until the whole group is full.
This summer, I want to recreate a little bit of that feeling in Berlin.
Join me on my terrace in Pankow for an all-you-can-eat Bánh Xèo feast. I’ll be making fresh Bánh Xèo throughout the afternoon, served with herbs, lettuce, and dipping sauce.
And because it’s summer, we’ll finish with a homemade Vietnamese banana coconut ice cream.
Whether you come alone or bring a friend, expect a relaxed Sunday afternoon of good food and conversation with new people.
