What we’re about
The Honolulu Mindfulness Community (HMC) is a group of lay practitioners who follow
the Plum Village tradition of Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. Our group is open to those interested in learning the Buddhist practices of sitting, walking and guided meditation. We meet in-person on Tuesday evenings twice each month at Bodhi Tree Meditation Center, and in Zoom sessions the other two Tuesday evenings.
Our in-person evening begins at 6:30 pm in the 3rd floor meditation hall at Bodhi Tree and finishes by 8 pm. Our tradition is a mindfulness practice, a way to live in harmony with ourselves, each other and the Earth. It can help deepen any faith tradition, you do not need to become or be a Buddhist to participate.

Wake Up Honolulu is part of an active global community created by and for young mindfulness practitioners, aged 18-35, inspired by the teachings of Zen Master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. Our group is open to anyone "in their first third of adult life" interested in learning and practicing mindfulness meditation. Our purpose in coming together is to take care of ourselves, nourish happiness, and contribute to a healthier and more compassionate society. https://linktr.ee/wakeuphonoluluWe meet every Wednesday to practice in-person from 6:30 to 8 PM at the Still and Moving Center. A usual meeting includes an introduction to the practice, a guided sitting meditation, walking meditation, and group sharing. While our main practice is based in a Buddhist tradition, anyone from any tradition or no tradition at all is welcome. We encourage you to find and develop a practice that works for you (and then share it with us!).
There is no charge for this event.
