Sunday Writing Session (at Ala Moana Center)
The Lanai at Ala Moana Center, 1450 Ala Moana Blvd, 2nd level, Honolulu, HI, USMost of the shops at Ala Moana Center open at 10 a.m. so we avoid the crowds by starting earlier. Brug bakeshop, Musubi Cafe, Seoul Mix, Ahi & Vegetables along with Starbucks in Macy's are open at that hour of the day.
Each session will have:
- 15 minutes of socializing/getting food (9 a.m.-9:15 a.m.)
- 1 hour of writing (9:15 a.m.-10:15 a.m.)
- 15 minutes of more socializing/reflection (stay as long as you want)
Bring something to write on (notebook, laptop, etc), a project in mind to work on, and a positive attitude!
No power outlets so arrive fully charged or go analog. I have some nametag stickers if anyone would like to use as it can get noisy in there to catch names or if you don't want to test people's memories.
- Parking: Lots of free covered parking at 9 a.m., not so much as it gets closer to the shopping center's opening time of 10 a.m.
- Food: Please buy some food/drink at this event as we are in a food court.
- WiFi: Free via AlaMoanaCenterGuest captive login portal (The internet connection can be sketchy at times so prepare accordingly).
- Bathrooms: Next to Brug
- Birds: If you see a bird above you on a lamp please shoo it away as they will poop-bomb you.
- Chairs: Please return the chairs to where they belong if you borrow them from another table. We want to be good customers.
- Noise: A section of the food court, on the Macy’s side, is a sports bar. The fans watching TV can get noisy, there is background music paying overhead in this food court and it can be noisy at times so earplugs/earphones are a must if you prefer a quieter environment.
- Temperature: The Lanai food court has an efficient air-conditioning system so if you tend to get cold you may want to dress accordingly.
- Discount coupons for Musubi Cafe, Kamukura Ramen and other shops. Coupon Link
