SUNRISE SATURDAY: ELEANOR TINSLEY PARK

Join us for an early morning low-light and sunrise photography session at Eleanor Tinsley Park! This location provides a stunning elevated view of downtown Houston, with the sun rising directly behind the city skyline—perfect for dramatic cityscape shots.

Note: This event is for Saturday only, and for people who could not sign up on Sunday. Please don't sign up for both days so we have plenty of room for everyone.

Starting before blue hour, we’ll have time to experiment with different lighting conditions, from deep twilight to golden hour. Plus, since Buffalo Bayou will be crowd-free, this is a great chance to practice long exposures, silhouettes, and early morning reflections without distractions.

This event is for photographers only—no guests or +1s, please, to keep group size manageable.

Eleanor Tinsley Park is located at 18-3600 Allen Pkwy, Houston, TX 77019, and we will meet at the Nau Family Pavilion (see map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/4N7tnuQbQxtVukwn9).

WHAT TO BRING

• Camera (any type)
Wide-angle lens (for full landscapes) OR telephoto lens (for building details)
• Tripod (for stability in low light)
• Shutter trigger (optional but useful)
• Rain protection (for yourself & gear, just in case)
Wipe-on insect repellent (avoid sprays to be courteous to others)

WHAT TO EXPECT

We’ll meet 1 hour before sunrise to take advantage of several lighting conditions. This is a challenging but rewarding shoot, as Eleanor Tinsley Park is well-lit at night, meaning we’ll work with ambient city lights before transitioning into sunrise compositions.

Bonus challenge: Consider shooting a sunrise timelapse or experimenting with long-exposure traffic trails from nearby streets.
Weather permitting, we may even get some rainy cityscape shots—a rare and artistic opportunity!
