Tours are approximately an hour and a half long and journey through twenty-five miles of Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana Sabine River Basin outback. Trips begin through the moss draped Blue Elbow Swamp as biologist, Captain Eli shares his knowledge of the biodiverse habitat. Visit a site once inhabited by cannibals, and travel into a swamp tunnel. Soaring eagles can be spotted taking care of their nests, and wild alligators soak up the sun. Blue Herons, Egrets and other magnificent birds are regularly spotted taking flight across the water. The marshes are home to colorful flora and fauna. Our ecotour is an adventure in wildlife and floral observation and education.

We’ll meet at the Orange Public Boat Ramp

20 minutes early at 9:40 am to board the boat.
At the Levee stop sign turn right into Park and Wait in area of boat ramp.
Drinks are welcome but no food please.

PLEASE DON'T BE LATE AS WE DEPART ON TIME @ 10:00 AM.WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WAIT FOR YOU IF YOUR LATE.

Since this will be a long travel for most of I recommend that you plan your drive time and stops accordingly.
Here is the rest area that we recommend stopping at before getting to us. There are no stops on tours or on the boat.
If you are coming through Beaumont, please stop at Ben Rogers rest area, this is 30 mins from us. They offer free water and coffee.

WHAT TO BRING:

• NO Tripods allowed
• A small carry on camera bag. Remember we're on a boat with not a lot of space for big bags. We want everyone to be able to move freely so we can all get good shots.
• Bring your best zoom lens! 18-200 or 70-300
• A telephoto lens (200mm or longer) will help capture more detail of some of the wildlife. If you don't have a long zoom lens, consider renting one from Photo Rental Source in Houston. You will get a discount if you say you are taking the lens to a photowalk with HoustonPhotowalks!
• Extra batteries
• Something to dry your lens off in the event it gets wet.

PARKING:
Parking is available on the public ramp paved lot.

Some of you may want to consider booking an overnight stay as for some of us this could be a long drive in the morning. For me personally it's 2 hours 30 minutes from my house. I have listed some hotels in Beaumont that are not real expensive and are only a 25 minute drive to the tour.
