Drum Cleansing & Blessing Ceremony, followed by a Healing Drumming Circle and Meditation. You may bring your own drum and rattles if you have any, to bless and cleanse them in this moving, and sacred ceremony. If you don't have any instruments, no worries. We have a few you may borrow at the event.

***Please note, Houston Shamanism events are NOT repeating, monthly events on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, as has been the tradition in the past. Our gatherings for ceremony and community drumming are now held every other month at 7 PM, beginning in 2026 on the following dates Jan 24, March 28, May 23, July 25, September 26, and November 28. ABOUT HOUSTON SHAMANISM

Houston Shamanism is now celebrating it's 23rd year in the Houston area!

Over the years it has been led by Golden Phoenix and his assistants. GP is a traditional healer, descended from a line of healers/shaman from northern Mexico. GP created a unique healing experience for his group, blending the beliefs and practices of his indigenous family with minimally modified practices that allow for more personalized experiences, exploration and self healing of the individual, without losing the focus of the traditional, community healing aspect of shamanism. Additional teachers have also gifted GP with spiritual wisdom and practices from their own cultural lineages, and tribal people have given their blessing for him to share *some* practices with others. The ceremonies are always approached and presented respectfully.

***Beginning in 2026, Kimberly "Owl" will preside over ceremony and lead the group with, Path To Practitioner Shamanic Training and Certification courses, along with other educational and social events.

LOCATION

Our Traditional Ancient Trance Posture Ceremonies and Drumming are usually held at at 2115 Turner Drive in Houston, located on the corner of Turner Drive and Aldine Westfield Road. We meet indoors at this location, in the main chapel of The First Spiritualist Church of Houston--orange brick building with green roof. * Our events at the church are not endorsed by the NASC, and are NOT a church-sponsored event. However, we are highly appreciative and grateful for this church community for supporting all we do and allowing us to hold our gatherings within their safe and comfortable sanctuary.

Occasionally, we meet at other locations for workshops, training and certification, and social events. We hope you will subscribe to Meetup to receive messages and updates about future events. We no longer meet every second and fourth Saturday of the month. All of our events will be scheduled and not repeating events. We realize this new schedule may take some getting accustomed to and we hope that you will continue to support Houston Shamanism.

AGENDA
Doors Open at 6:30 PM for sign in and social time. Everyone attending MUST sign the waiver form at the sign-in table,

7 PM -- Pre-Journey Reflection and Spiritual Preparation begins. Please enter quietly after this time as not to disturb others, and try to arrive PRIOR to 7 PM if possible. Doors will be locked by 7:15 to prepare for Ceremony. Late-comers will not be admitted once ceremony has begun.

Event ends at 9 to 9:15 PM

AMENITIES

Parking is FREE and plentiful inside the gated area. The event at this location is usually always held indoors, unless specifically noted here. The meeting space is cool and comfortable with plenty of room to spread out. Please bring a blanket to lie on for journey work as trance journeying tends to lower body temperature. There are also comfortable chairs if you cannot lie on the floor. Light refreshments may be provided.

***No children, please, at the second Saturday event, due to the intense nature of this ceremony. Please also note that there is always spirit activity within circle. Do not be alarmed. This is normal. Come prepared to experience and interact.

Your generous monetary offering helps pay for the use of our spacious, comfortable meeting space and our Meetup advertising fees. PLEASE RSVP as soon as you are able. WHAT WE DO at Traditional Ecstatic Trance Posture Journey Ceremonies

We trance journey together and share our experiences in circle. We often do ancient ecstatic trance postures, including one for self healing. Some postures require lying down or sitting on the floor, but accommodations can be made if you are not able to do this. There is ample seating. Periodically, we do group projects, such as soul release (psychopomp) ceremonies to help lost souls find their way to the spirit world, group journeys and soul retrieval just to name a few.

All levels of experience are welcome, including beginners.

SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO WEAR AND TO BRING Please wear loose, comfortable clothes so that you can sit or lie on the floor. Bring a bottle of water to drink. You may still want to bring a pillow and something soft to lie on, such as an exercise mat, quilt or sleeping bag. You may also want something light to cover up with in case the air conditioning gets too cool. (Journeying in trance tends to lower your body temperature.) If you can bring a rattle and/or a hoop drum or frame drum with a padded beater, please bring them. Feel free to bring any crystals, animal fetishes, or other spiritual objects or bundles that you wish to journey with or put on the altar to charge up during the ceremony.
