Nothing brings you down more than being associated with someone who is constantly putting you down, criticizing your actions or plans, making you doubt yourself, damaging your self-esteem, or making you feel depressed or anxious. Sometimes it is even hard to tell why someone makes you feel bad or what they do to upset you. But somehow they always do.
If you were able to identify a toxic personality and zero in on what it is that they do that upsets you, that would be a step forward. And if you learned about better ways to deal with them and get them to stop upsetting you, wouldn’t that be valuable?
Many of us settle for some level of compromise and toxicity in a relationship. Most people actually have some awareness when a relationship is unhealthy, but have justifications for it, such as:
