• Sundays and Wednesdays Walk 'n Talk

    Lake Johnson Park

PARKING LOTS FILL EARLY. TRY TO ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 9:30.

For this month, we will be walking at Lake Johnson Park in West Raleigh near the NC State campus. They have finally finished their trail upgrades; it will be nice to see what they have accomplished. We will meet near the Waterfront Center; use 4601 Avent Ferry Road for your GPS address. As usual, we will start our walk at 10:00 AM. The parking lot is still tight; especially on Sundays, I suggest arriving a little earlier to ensure a spot. If the lot is full, there is a secondary lot further down at 5041 Avent Ferry across the bridge. You can park there, walk up the steps and meet us on the trail. If you are lost, running late or parking in the alternate parking area, please text me at[masked] so we know to wait for you or meet you at the alternate location. Regarding mask wearing, please abide by the latest mandate put forward by the governor.

Our walking days are Sunday Oct. 3,10,17,24 and 31* and Wednesday Oct. [masked] and 27.
    * Feel welcome to wear a costume on the 31st 🎃

After our walk, feel free to join us for coffee at Cup A Joe, in the Mission Valley Shopping Plaza (2109 Avent Ferry Rd).

  • Virtual Online Thursday Morning Video Drop-in

    Online event

Since we can't meet in person, we are now meeting via video conference using an application called ZOOM. This is a great opportunity for us seniors to learn a new technology. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit back and have fun. You'll enjoy seeing familiar faces that we've been missing since the lockdown went into effect. If you don't want to be seen on screen you also have the option to speak without your video turned on. The attendance limit is 30 at one time, but people will probably come and go, so you can check back from time to time to see if you can chime in. For those who have not used Zoom before, we would suggest you log on 10-15 minutes early to familiarize yourselves with the application.

You do not need a password. When you RSVP to this invitation the link for the meeting will appear on the right side of this page. Click on the link and complete the login. You will then be admitted to the group conference. Please try to log onto the call before 10 AM, because once the meeting starts the link will no longer work. If for some reason you are asked what the Meeting ID is, this is the number:[masked]

    See you on the computer!
