Mindfulness meditation is the practice of focusing on the present moment with openness and non-judgment. By paying attention to the breath, sensations, or surroundings, it helps develop self-awareness and emotional balance.
Research shows that meditation rewires the brain for happiness. Studies have found it strengthens the prefrontal cortex (linked to positive emotions) while reducing activity in the amygdala (the stress center).
Harvard research revealed that mindfulness increases gray matter in areas tied to emotional regulation, while other studies show it lowers stress hormones and boosts long-term well-being. By training the mind to stay present, using simple methods, mindfulness fosters lasting peace and happiness.
