About us
The Peninsula Outdoor Painters group (POPs) was established in 1977. We paint on Tuesday mornings at the same location for two consecutive weeks, then we move to the next location. Our group welcomes painters at every skill level.
- Although our events are scheduled for 9:30 am, its no problem if you arrive later
- Please yield to walkers, bikers and equestrians. Try to avoid blocking anyone.
- Please stay on designated trails
- Please do not dump any dirty paint water or solvents.
- Please leave your painting area spotless, please leave no trace, so that we may return.
Thank you so much and have a wonderful paint-out.

Venice Beach, Half Moon Bay
Venice Beach, Venice Blvd., Half Moon Bay, CA, USVenice Beach State Park ($10 to enter, cash or credit card. No Apple Pay)
Venice Beach has lovely wild flowers at this time of year, plus wonderful views to the north, east and south. Little trails meander through the wildflowers, making for unique painting options. This area is favored by brown pelicans and many other seabirds especially when shoals of anchovies are offshore.
If you wish to support our California State Park system and avoid the $10 entry fee, consider buying an annual State Park Pass for $125 when you arrive at the Ranger booth. Or borrow a pass from any library in San Mateo County, however they are usually in short supply.
Parking
Parking is plentiful.
Restrooms
Clean restrooms with running water
Lunch
Meet at the picnic tables at 12:30 to enjoy everyone's paintings. For lunch, I can highly recommend the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company in Princeton. Their fish tacos are excellent, the price is right, and they have a large outdoor dining area.2 attendees
