Foothills Nature Preserve, Los Altos Hills
Details
Map of the preserve (scroll down)
Fall color at this location is usually very good but this year the trees are missing the vibrant yellows and reds. Boronda Lake and its reflections are special and the panoramic view from Vista Hill is well worth painting. The lake has two small docks, an attractive humpback bridge (missing this year) and many attractive trees, shrubs, grassy areas and cattails along the shoreline. Sometimes people canoe on the lake and others occasionally fish from the docks. It is a quiet and pretty area with many mature trees to provide shade while painting. There is a $6 fee to enter the preserve.
Parking (free)
Parking is adjacent to the lake and is where most of us park. Also parking on Vista Hill and at the ranger station at the park entrance. More parking is beyond the lake and down a hill.
Restrooms - 2 options
To the left of the Ranger Station as you enter the park (about 1/4 mile from the lake) and at the large parking lot beyond the lake.
Lunch @ 12:30
Meet at the lake for lunch and to share our work.
