Series x 5 Sessions: The Five Kleshas Through Film
Wednesdays on Zoom | Free | Everyone Welcome
Beginning in two weeks, we invite you to join us for a free five-session meditation and discussion series exploring the Buddhist teaching of the Five Kleshas through the acclaimed film Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring.
The kleshas—often translated as "afflictive emotions" or "mental obscurations"—are patterns of mind that contribute to suffering and obscure our natural wisdom and compassion. Throughout this series, we will explore:
- Ignorance
- Craving (Attachment)
- Aversion (Aggression)
- Pride
- Jealousy
Each evening will include:
- 10 minutes of meditation
- 15–25 minutes of the film
- 20–30 minutes of discussion and reflection
- Closing with the Dedication of Merit
As the story unfolds across the changing seasons of a monk's life, we will explore how the kleshas arise in everyday experience, how they shape our thoughts and actions, and how they can be transformed into wisdom.
No prior meditation experience or knowledge of Buddhism is necessary. This program is open to everyone and offered free of charge.
While participants are encouraged to join at the beginning of the series to experience the film from start to finish, you are welcome to join at any point during the five weeks.
Join us from the comfort of your home on Zoom for an evening of meditation, film, discussion, and community as we explore timeless teachings on the causes of suffering and the path to awakening.
