### Classic Buddhist Stories: The Monkey King

Wednesday, October 21, 2026
7:00–8:00 PM (PT) • Zoom
Facilitated by Pascale Dellefield
Join us for the third gathering in our Classic Buddhist Stories series as we explore The Monkey King Jātaka, a powerful Buddhist tale of compassionate leadership, courage, responsibility, and self-sacrifice.
When danger threatens his community, the Monkey King places the welfare of others before his own safety. His actions offer a moving example of leadership rooted not in power or status, but in care, responsibility, and service to others.
Through meditation, storytelling, and group discussion, we’ll explore:

  • Compassionate leadership
  • Courage in the face of danger
  • Responsibility for the welfare of others
  • Self-sacrifice and discernment
  • Interdependence and community
  • The bodhisattva ideal

Together, we’ll consider questions such as: What does it mean to lead for the benefit of others? When does sacrifice become an expression of compassion? And how can we care deeply for others while still acting with wisdom?
No previous knowledge of Buddhism or the Jātaka tales is necessary.
Everyone is warmly welcome.
