๐Ÿ’š LIBBY ABNEY from the City of Lakeland's Water Utilities Department will be hosting the Heartland Chapter & friends for this 5-mile GUIDED HIKE at Se7en Wetlands on Mother's Day Sunday at 9am. ๐ŸŒฟ Libby is their Environmental Program Specialist and will explain as we hike out of the Gopher Tortoise Trailhead how these 1,600-acres of wetlands work to clean our environment.

๐Ÿ˜Ž BRING OR WEAR: Closed toed shoes or boots, at least 1 liter of water, and sun & insect protection. The terrain is fairly flat and open.

๐ŸคŽ Se7en Wetlands was once a part of the Bonny Lake Phosphate Mine that opened in 1947. After it closed in 1984, the City of Lakeland purchased the property to transform the acreage into a state-of-the-art constructed treatment wetland system for final polishing of wastewater.

โ˜€๏ธ Two of the 7 "cells" at Se7en Wetlands are open to the public from 7am to 7pm, with 8.5 miles of trails available for hiking. Pets are not permitted at the park.

Keep Se7en Wetlands clean. Take only photographs, leave only footprints.
