HIKERS FROM THE PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB AREA WILL BE JOINING THIS EVENT

The Mount Pinos and Pine Mountain Club (PMC) area are beautiful Alpine locations that are relatively close to Ventura and the Los Angeles area. Even though it is close to urban areas, during the weekdays PMC is peaceful with much less visitors. Lots of pine trees with plenty of shaded trails. Area has lots of interesting geology too.
In the area there are several campgrounds and PMC has several restaurants, rental cabins, and a clean and comfortable inn too. Monday, we'll be doing an exploration hike to Brush Mountain (~7 miles roundtrip and 1100 ft gain), and Tuesday to Antimony Peak (~4 miles and ~1600 ft elevation gain), and possibly Escapula Peak (guessing at 3 miles roundtrip and 1,000 ft gain). Wednesday, we'll choose a local trail.

I will bring some geologic maps, and I will say a bit about geology. The North American-Pacific Plate Boundary is nearby (aka San Andreas fault). We will visit the San Andreas fault and see where it last ruptured the earth's surface during the great 1857 Fort Tejon Earthquake.
