HSGP@ Center for Freethought Equality Annual Meeting Livecast & Discussion

Details

**This event is hosted by NW Phoenix Humanists & Phoenix Atheist Meetup Group in partnership with The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Surprise. If the distance is too far or you would prefer to watch the presentation from the comfort of your own home, information on how you can access the Zoom session is included below**

We're tuning in to the Center for Freethought Equality’s annual meeting via live Zoom stream! After the session, stick around for a thoughtful discussion with fellow Humanists and free-thinkers. Let's watch, reflect, and connect!

The Center for Freethought Equality is the advocacy and political arm of the American Humanist Association. They seek to increase Humanist activity in key Washington coalitions and advocate for issues that Humanist and atheist communities care about such as the separation of church and state, protecting civil liberties, and advancing progressive policies.

Presented as part of the American Humanist Association's 2025 Annual Conference, this special 90-min program will feature updates on key legislative and electoral wins, followed by a panel of candidates and elected officials who won - or narrowly lost - their 2024 races.

These candidates demonstrate that not only is the atheist taboo in politics dead but being a member of the humanist and atheist community is no longer an effective opposition issue in today's politics.

The panelists are: North Dakota State Senator Ryan Braunberger, former Colorado State House member Stephanie Vigil, and Maria Peterson.
