Huffman exposes just how deep Christian nationalism has burrowed into American government. He breaks down the tactics and myths Christian nationalists use to advance their agenda, straight from his new book “NO PROPHETS: The Fight to Save Democracy from Christian Nationalism.” Huffman serves as the U.S. representative for California's 2nd congressional district, and is the founder of the Congressional Freethought Caucus, He is the only member of Congress to publicly identify as a Humanist, and he’s watched this movement operate from inside the Capitol — attacking public schools, undermining science, and fueling the conspiracism that props up authoritarian politics. The Fighting Democrat Series is a recurring interview segment on The Warning with Steve Schmidt, a Substack publication and podcast run by former Bush chief of staff Steve Schmidt. Each episode features a conversation with a prominent Democrat labeled a “Fighting Democrat” — a term used by the Save America Movement for Democrats who actively oppose the Trump administration’s policies. The Save America Movement is a citizens’ committee aimed at opposing the corruption, abuses of power and divisions of the Trump regime.
