Tour of the Octagon Earthworks in Newark OH with HCCO members.

Details
For our April program, we will be meeting at the Octagon Earthworks in Newark, OH at Noon, for a guided tour of the earthworks. This site was finally turned over to the Ohio History Connection on Jan 1 of this year and is a wonderful example of First Nation people's knowledge of earthworks construction, mathematics and astronomy. This site in one of eight Ohio sites comprising the Hopewell Earthworks that were named last year as World Heritage Site--this is a big deal!
Join us for the tour! We suggest you arrive at least 15-30 minutes before noon and wear comfortable walking shoes. The address is:
125 N 33rd Street, Newark, OH 43055
For a complete display and explanation of the earthworks, you can visit the Ohio Historical Center off of 17th avenue and I71 in Columbus.
There is no cost for this event and you do not have to RSVP, just show up!
If you have any questions, you can contact Bob Leonhard at 614-301-7436
