Thinking Lab: How to Stop Overthinking
Details
FREE, IN-PERSON MEETUP IN PITTSBURGH.
Maybe you keep worrying about something that hasn’t happened. Maybe you replay a conversation for hours, keep reconsidering a decision, or imagine everything that could go wrong.
Overthinking looks different for everyone. But the experience is often the same: your mind keeps going long after thinking has stopped helping.
HumanOS is a free Pittsburgh club for self-understanding and mindful living. We explore the automatic patterns—or loops—that shape our thoughts, emotions, actions, and relationships.
In this Thinking Lab, we’ll each look at one recurring thinking loop. We’ll slow it down, notice what starts it and keeps it going, and explore what might help interrupt it. The goal is not to force your mind to become blank. It is to understand what is happening and create a little more room for conscious choice.
I’ll use replaying an argument as one example: the conversation has ended, but your mind keeps rewriting what you should have said and does not allow you to fall asleep. You are welcome to bring that loop—or any other form of overthinking that keeps returning.
The evening will include:
- A short introduction to the HumanOS approach
- Private reflection and writing
- Guided peer conversation
- One small real-life experiment to try afterward
Sharing is always optional. You can participate without personal details, and you are equally welcome to come and listen.
Our agreements are simple: speak from your own experience, let others finish, and do not give advice unless someone asks for it.
This is a free, public, peer-led gathering—Nothing is being sold, and you will not be asked to join anything.
