Ma-le’l Dunes Hike- Sand, Sea, Forest and Dunes! And Then Beer!

Details
Join us for a unique hiking experience in the dunes! The Samoa Peninsula dune system is a unique mix of bare and vegetated dunes, forested dunes, wetlands, and beaches. Our 5 mile lollipop route will utilize a variety of trails through the coastal dunes, and along the ocean, before looping through forested dunes along a bayside salt marsh. This trail is rated easy with an elevation gain of 136 ft. and is beginner-friendly for those who don’t mind walking on sand. I'll have an updated milage and elevation for you guys closer to the event.
Bring water, layers, and a beanie or ear cover in case it’s windy along our beach stretch. We will be walking on sand so choose footwear that you don’t mind getting dirty, and that won’t accumulate too much sand. I like close-fitting socks and tight trail runners. Gaiters are great as well.
After the hike those interested can grab a bite and drink together somewhere nearby. We'll see what sounds good day-of. Social Club?
Please note dogs are not allowed as we will be passing through a protected area.
This is another trail that changes quite often, so keep an eye on the event for an updated milage week-of, and any additional information.
Please remember that our group is a social club for people looking to meet new peer group friends- please no children, and keep guests in the 30/40/50's-ish age range.
We will be meeting at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center in Manila. The official gps-friendly address is 220 Stamps Ln, Arcata CA 95521
