A few notes...
This is a private meetup event for members who have talked to me beforehand. If you're interested in attending, please talk to me and we can get you added!
The rsvp list is made up of people who I've talked to in person and have told me they're interested. Check out the details, and if the paddle is not for you drop a comment and I'll remove you. If it is for you, here's all the information and we'll see you on the 4th! And if you want to go, contact me or talk to me before the event!

It's firework time and we're gonna paddle out on the bay and watch them! We'll meet at the boat launch behind the Target in Eureka, do a leisurely paddle over to Woodley to watch the fireworks, then paddle around a bit more in the dark. We're launching at 9, and will get back around 11.
What you'll need to attend:
a kayak, SUP, or canoe
a paddle
a pfd- see below
a light on your boat- see below
ability to paddle the bay in the dark
snacks/beverages?
If you've never paddled this part of the bay at night before, its just like paddling here in the daytime, but darker and with better conditions!
Conditions:
We'll be in the week leading up to a full moon so it won't be pitch black, but it will be dark. We'll have some light when we put in, and this launch is easy to navigate in the dark. When we launch we'll have a six foot tide going out, 5mph winds with 7mph gusts, so it's looking really nice! I'll update this closer to the 4th.
There are a few dedicated parking spots next to the launch, and you can park along the curb and on the right side of Target. I'll post pictures in the next day or so.
The boat launch is sloped concrete (I'll post pictures.) You don't have to get wet to use this launch, but you can also wear river shoes if you prefer stepping in. We can help you shove off as well. There might be some mud depending on what time we arrive back. Bring a change of shoes if you're worried about it.
All kayaks/SUPs/Canoes are required to have a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (PFD/life jacket) for each person on board.
All kayaks/SUPs/Canoes are required to have a white light that is visible from all directions. I usually clip an inflatable camping light to the front of my boat. I'll post a picture.
Obligatory reminder that we dress for the water temperature, and its always good to have an emergency light and whistle on your pfd.
The fireworks paddle is a party- feel free to dress up and light up! Some years the water is full of other paddling party goers, some years it's quiet. I'll have my light up accessories and party lights on my kayak. Dogs are not recommended. We're going to be right under the fireworks!
Any questions please drop them in the comments!
