TOMORROW In Eureka! After Work Short McKay Hike and Cider Hang!

Join us Thursday in Eureka for a short hike in the McKay Community Forest, then across the street to Humboldt Cider Co for a cider happy hour! Come for the hike, for cider, or both!

We will be doing our 2.2 mile hike in about 45 minutes to beat the darkness. Our route is moderate, 104 ft elevation gain, with a few short climbs. We'll be in the woods as the sun is setting and exit along the pastures to the road in the forest. Once we hit the road it will be dark, so the final 10 minutes down the paved road will be dark. You can bring a headlamp (I'll have extras), use your phone, or rely on the light we have left. I feel like there is plenty of light to walk up the road without a personal light source, but that's up to you. I've posted some pictures in this event so you can judge for yourself. Keep in mind my phone makes it look a bit lighter than it is.

We will be finishing our route in 45 minutes so we're not out there in the dark. If 2 miles in 45 minutes doesn't sound fun or doable to you, just meet us at the Cider Co at 6! If your vision isn't the greatest in low light, this might not be the hike for you.

If you're running late you can either catch up or meet us at The Cider. Co. at 6. I'll post our route in the event photos. We will be leaving the trailhead at 5pm.

There is a bit of mud on the trail so bring your party shoes!

We'll meet at the McKay Community Forest trailhead sign on Harris St. I've put a photo of that in the event photos. We'll do our loop in the woods, end up back at the trailhead, then walk across the street to the Cider Co. less than a block away. You can park on Harris St. or across the street on Hubbard Ln, where the Cider Co. is. There is also a parking lot at the Cider Co.
