Bear Mountain Tuesday Sunset Hike

Join us for an evening hike up Bear Mountain. Pace will be brisk, no it's not recommended for true beginners. There is no sweep.
Park in the main parking lot #1, right in front of the Bear Mountain Inn. GPS coordinates are 41.31270, -73.98924 for parking and the meeting spot.
We will meet outside the Bear Mountain Inn and begin with a short stroll around the lake, We'll ascend on the Major Welch trail (red circle). After 1.65 miles, make a sharp RIGHT TURN where the Major Welch and Appalachian Trails merge and follow the AT South (white rectangle) to Moon Rocks for sunset. Please note, we will not be going to the summit Firepower on this hike We'll descend on the AT South (white rectangle)
Faster hikers are not obligated to wait for slower hikers. You should feel comfortable completing the hike on your own should you fall behind or separate from the group.
TO BRING:
- the Bear Mountain (or Harriman #119) map
- headlamp
- water and snacks
- moisture wicking layers
- Distance: ~4 miles
Elevation Gain: ~1200'
Hike time: ~2.5 hours
