Details

CATSKILL 3500 - Windham High Peak & Burnt Knob
Thru-hike with car spotting - BE EARLY
Sunday 8-June - 8:15am
11km distance, 600 meters gain
(7 miles, 2000 feet)
Est. 3.5-4.5 hours - Map 141

Meetup Notes: Meet at the Big Hollow Trailhead near the Blackheads and we will be moving cars to the beginning of the hike for an 8:30 start. Anyone who skips the car spot and meets at the beginning will NOT be guaranteed a ride back to their car - BE EARLY. I won't likely have cell service at the trailhead to distinguish if you are running late or a no-show - so I will assume no-show.

Route Notes: We are meeting at the Endpoint of the hike and taking as few cars as possible to the beginning. First is one mile to near the Elm Ridge Lean To then 2+ miles up the ridge on the blue trail to the Windham High Peak summit. Then just under 3 miles down the ridge around the front of Burnt Knob (optional bushwhack to true summit), then right turn on the red trail to descend about a mile to Big Hollow.

As of 4 June, weather is looking great... mostly sunny and upper 50s when we start, upper 60s as an afternoon high. Expect wet ground conditions after rain the prior day/evening.
