Suffern-Bear Mountain Traverse (23 mile day hike)

Details

Read the Entire Description

***Please be on time. We have to shuttle to the start of the hike.

***Experienced, strong, and self-reliant long distance hikers only! Do not sign up if you have not completed hikes of similar distance and ascent in the past. Over this long distance the group will most likely break up. You must be willing and able to complete the hike on your own. You are responsible for yourself on this hike.

***Answer the RSVP question. Everyone goes on the waitlist at first. I reserve the right to add/remove people from the hike based on my knowledge of your ability. If you haven’t hiked with me, message me a description of what you have done.

Please join me for a south to north traverse of Harriman and Bear Mountain State Parks via the Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail from the village of Suffern, NY to the Bear Mountain Inn. This will be a full day, strenuous hike entirely on the yellow blazed S-BM Trail.
This hike will require a car shuttle. We will meet at the parking lot at Bear Mountain. No exceptions! We will then hop in as few cars as possible and drive to the parking lot for the Suffern train station to start the hike. Approximately 30 minutes. You must be willing to participate in the shuttle by either driving to the start or returning drivers to their cars.
You should be able to follow a map, understand possible bailouts, and must be realistic in your assessment of your own abilities and be prepared to hike alone.
