Beacon, Lambs Hill, Schofield Ridge - 7 miles

7 mile Hudson Highlands hike
Enjoy some great views from Lambs Hill and Beacon plus a nice technical scrambles.

Moderate pace - You should have recent experience hiking mountains to do this. You should be getting regular cardio exercise to do this. Please check the estimated mileage and elevation gain on this before RSVPing - and please read the description IN ITS ENTIRETY.

10:00 AM start time - Beacon Parking Lot 788 Wolcott Ave, Beacon, NY 12508
GETTING THERE:
Main Beacon Parking are on Route 9 D in Beacon, NY
TRAIL DESCRIPTION:
We'll follow the main Beacon trail up the stairs (Red). Head up the first switchback, and then cut left on the Yellow Trail, cutting across the old Ski trails. Then we'll turn right on the white trail and follow it along a brook, across reservoir road and up a steep section to the top of Lambs Hill.
We'll continue on White trail until we reach Dozer Junction. From here we will follow the blue trail a short distance and then take the yellow trail up Schofield Ridge. Towards the summit of Schofield ridge we will follow a herd path to a scenic view which looks North to Fishkill Ridge. We'll head back to the Yellow trail and follow Wilkinson Memorial past the site of an airplane crash along with several scenic view points.
We will turn right onto the White blazed, Breakneck Ridge Trail back up to the steep scramble to the fire tower. We will then head back down the red trail past the Casino.
Best estimate of total hike time is about 4 - 5 hours
