Mt. Beacon /Bald Hill/ Lamb's Hill ~10 miles - Brisk pace

Trails: Red - Yellow - white - yellow - red
The Hike: We start hiking at 8am. The pace will average a brisk 2.4 - 2.5mph pace. There is no sweep so hikers should be able to follow the route if going faster or slower than the average pace. There will be very brief stops at the fire tower, etc. A lunch break usually takes place at Bald Hill or Dozer Junction.
Here's the route:
- From the lot, take red trail 2.2 miles to yellow (we will break off to the fire tower for a few minutes and then return to red trail).
- Turn left onto yellow and continue ~2 miles to white trail.
- Turn left onto white for 4.4 miles - looping around Fishkill Ridge and passing over Bald Hill and Lamb's Hill along the way.
- Turn left onto yellow and continue about one mile.
- Turn right onto red trail and head back to parking lot..
Distance: approx 10 miles
Duration: approx 4.5 - 5 hours including brief stops at viewpoints
Difficulty: first mile is all uphill and can be very difficult for some;
Pace will average a moderate 2.4 - 2.5mph.
Elevation gain: Approx 2,400 feet
Views: All directions
Gear: Clothing for changing temps; water; snacks
Map: NY/NJ Trail Conference map for East Hudson trails; Avenza phone app for Hudson Highlands Park trails; or similar maps or apps.
