About the "Field Research"…
Nope, not the Speakeasy in downtown Austin. The one way out in the fields south of Austin, Mama Merlot's!
I've had my eye on the many cool events happening way down yonder at this throwback spot for months and the questions linger and linger:
- "Is it worth the trip?"
- "Just how do they enforce a two item minimum?"
It's time for some answers. If you're charged and ready for first-timer adventure, join me to check out how authentic the 1920s vibe is, whether future events might be worth the extra I-35 drive time and satisfying many other curiosities.
Here's a mashup from their event page:
"Mix and mingle with other singles in a relaxed atmosphere for a night of great music, drinks, and conversation. Whether you're looking for love or just want to meet new people, this event is perfect for you. Don't miss out on the chance to make new connections and maybe even find that special someone."

And here are some F***ing Friends connection ideas:
- I will not be trying to look like Eliot Ness for this first time out, but will make myself obvious by hanging just in-/outside the entrance. Awkward!?
- Maybe Mama's enjoys playing up the secret hideout theme or maybe they apply Prohibition to newer tech but anyway only investigation surfaced this menu. I hope it's what we'll be offered because it looks enticing: previous brunch menu
- Once we're all inside, I am too happy to take up "blocking and tackling" if you happen to attract someone who doesn't seem to get that "s/he's just not that into you." That's what friends do 😃
