Seeking Design Mentors, Participants, Volunteers and Sponsors
This is a partner event, to participate you must apply at The Creating Reality hackathon website (https://www.creatingrealityhack.com/).
The Hackathon is a non-profit and non-commercial event bringing together a diverse group of talented participants to form interdisciplinary teams that will create new uses for and new insights into immersive technology. The Creating Reality hackathon, modeled after the Reality Virtually hackathon held at the MIT Media Lab and adapted for the USC and Los Angeles communities, is a large-scale (world record-setting largest immersive hack) four-day learning experience. We were 43% women, with participants who represented 53 races and countries of national origin at the MIT Media Lab Hackathon where people traveled from 12 countries and 26 states. We plan to meet or exceed these measures at USC
Four hundred hackathon participants will be selected from a field of 1,500 - 2,000 applicants for the LA hackathon. Students and industry practitioners are invited to apply. Students from USC, UCLA, and other universities throughout Los Angeles, the nation, and the world are invited to apply. Designers, developers, and domain experts from AR|VR communities in Los Angeles and beyond are also invited to apply. The hackathon starts with a full day of workshops on AR and VR design and development, platforms and domains such as storytelling. Teams will build for two days using their own and loaned equipment before judging begins and prizes awarded.
