Dr. Jonathan Rose - Swedenborg's Correspondences and NDE Details

Dr. Jonathan Rose from The Emanuel Swedenborg Institute is an expert on Emanuel Swedenborg’s life and times, his publications, and spiritual experiences after having studied his works for some fifty years. He is the series editor and a Latin translator for the Swedenborg Foundation’s New Century Edition of the Theological Works of Emanuel Swedenborg and a frequent guest on the Swedenborg Foundation’s Off the Left Eye Channel hosted by Curtis Childs.
Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) was a Swedish scientist and theologian. He wrote Heaven and Hell among many other works. Swedenborg reported his own near-death experience and daily exploration of the afterlife for decades while still alive and wrote about functioning in this world in terms of what he called “correspondences.” These are a system of correlations between aspects of the spiritual world of the afterlife (which he said is also the world of human psychology and inner states) and features of the material world around us.
As we know, accounts of Near-Death Experiences depict a world unfamiliar to many of us, in which experiencers report having a different kind of body and operating in a world reminiscent in some ways of this one but with a very different physics. The accounts often have bizarre and interesting details. Swedenborg has his own take on the afterlife and our worldly experiences, which are fascinating.
Dr. Rose has been very interested in NDE's ever since Raymond Moody’s Life after Life came out in 1975. He has also authored three books, two of which are downloadable as free PDF’s on swedenborg.com and one available for purchase online (links below).

Everyone is welcome! We meet virtually via Zoom most fourth (that can vary) Sundays of the month (except for August) at 2pm EST. During COVID-19, all our meetings were virtual. We are now offering a hybrid format where people can attend in-person or virtually. We are volunteer-based and ask for a minimal $5 contribution (more is welcome) to offset our expenses (i.e., Speaker honoraria, IANDS’ dues, Zoom and Meetup fees, Vimeo subscriptions and to help Unity of Fairfax who partners with us).
