Serverless workshop: Build an app with Apache OpenWhisk

Details
Serverless -- the new, most-talked-about architecture pattern -- is quickly becoming a buzz word. The idea is for developers to stop worrying about server management and focus on code. After all, the serverless platform takes care of the provisioning servers, underlying infrastructure, server maintenance security, and scaling!
The majority of this event will be run as a hands-on workshop.
This workshop will teach you how to develop serverless applications, composed of loosely-coupled, microservice-like functions, using an open-source serverless platform. Starting with getting the development environment set up, we'll continue to guide you towards creating, deploying, and invoking serverless functions for multiple runtimes.
Once we finish the workshop, we will look at three practical use cases of serverless with example code.
- Secure and Scalable APIs
- Backend microservices
- Event-driven programming
You will learn all about triggers, rules, actions, composition, and event-driven architecture. We hope you can join us in person for some learning and delicious food!
